Working Together to Better the Lives of Others Through Volunteer Services
Who We Are
We are a group of women of all ages, backgrounds, and interests working together to better the lives of others, make our cities and towns a better place to live, and extend the hand of friendship to those near and far.
Any woman who wants the opportunity to enjoy the fellowship and personal enrichment that comes through volunteerism is welcome.
Working together, through the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, we are part of a powerful service organization with diverse talents united in dedication to community service.

Education

Civic Engagement
Serving the local community.
Conservation: The Southport Women’s Club (SWC) actively participates in “Keep America Beautiful” programs, providing educational resources and hands-on guidance in litter prevention, recycling, waste reduction, beautification, and community greening. Additionally, SWC educates the community about responsible landfill options for disposing of batteries, used oil, antifreeze, and lead-acid batteries.
Arts: SWC is a staunch advocate for promoting the arts within the club, local community, and schools. Their annual Arts Festival showcases the creative works of local high school and middle school students, as well as SWC members. Selected pieces are exhibited at the District Festival, and winners have the opportunity to advance to the State Competition.
Education: SWC actively supports education through various initiatives. They annually award the Sallie Southall Cotten Scholarship, which can provide over $22,000 in funding over four years to a deserving high school senior selected through district and state level competitions. SWC also funds scholarships for the Brunswick Community College Foundation of Nursing.
Civic Engagement: SWC plays an essential role in civic engagement. They highlight women’s health issues, ensuring awareness and advocacy. Ongoing programs include generous gifts, donations, and support to the NC Boys and Girls Home at Lake Waccamaw. Additionally, SWC actively supports “Operation At Ease,” a local program focused on assisting veterans and their families.
